Parsons Cyber - Capture the Flag (CTF) Competitions

by Parsons Cyber

Over the past month, we have hosted several Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions - two at our office in Columbia and two remote competitions at area schools and universities. At these events, participants faced questions from reverse engineering a program, to steganography, network forensics, and more! Students from the University of Maryland ACES program joined us in our office for the third annual ACES Fall CTF. They not only got to participate in the competition, but they also got to see our office and meet more Parsons Cyber employees. Several Parsons Software Engineers went to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) to host a CTF for the school's Cyber Defense Club - The Cyber Dawgs. The club turned out in force, bringing 70 students to compete and vie for first place! Our other remote CTF took place at Montgomery College. We have partnered with Montgomery College several times before to provide CTF competitions for students in their Cybersecurity Center. And because there can never be too many CTFs, we hosted our bi-monthly CTF at our Columbia, MD office. This was another record breaking event that brought in over 60 people and required some last minute table configurations to accommodate everyone.
